Norcold Reinforced Hinge Kit 634166 (fits the N6, N8, & N1095 models)
Having to replace your door because it broke out of the hinge due to excess weight or hard swinging of the door? This reinforced hinge kit includes two hinges and washers to add extra strength to the door. This kit will only work on Norcold N6, N8, and N1095 models that have doors with a smooth interior texture. If your door is waffle in texture, this will not work on your hinge. This kit is a recommended replacement part for models that have had the door break off at the lower hinge. If your door has broken off, you will need to replace the door. This hinge kit simply reinforces the new door's lower hinge.

Fixed hinge part works fine, is easy to install
And the part should have been part of the original product. To be fair, our lower hinge didn't break, and the refrigerator is nine years old. I installed the new hinge part to PREVENT a messy failure on the road.

Since it was known to be a faulty and the company preferring not to take a black eye because of it. It would of seamed that you would of sent the parts at no charge to keep customers returning to your brand of RV refrigerator. At the least why weren't screws included with the "kit"? Reply: Cindy, we are NOT Norcold and do NOT want to be. We simply sell the brand and support it's product line. We agree with you, though! They should have taken the high road here and sent them out for free.

Design could be improved
The part was easy to install and solved the broken lower hinge problem. However, the design could definitely be improved. The hole in the replacement bracket is larger than the lower hinge pin on the refrigerator. This requires you to either buy a new door or glue the broken plastic hinge piece back on the door. It would be a much better fix if the replacement part had a smaller hole that fit over the lower hinge pin without excess play. You could then attach the part to the door with two small screws. It seems like they want you to buy a new door. I'm not an engineer, but I think I could improve the design. I am going to try to fabricate my own modified version when I get home.

Reinforced Hinge Is A Winner
I ordered the reinforced (metal) hinge after the flimsy plastic hinge that is part of the tefrigerator door broke off. I super glued the broken hinge back on the door and attached the reinforced hinge to support the repaired hinge to the door per onstructipns. It all came together very well. According to Google, the Plastic Norcold hinge is vulnerable to breaking and has been a problem since the early 2000's. Seems like they should have included the reinforced hinge as a normal part of the door when assemblying the refrigerator.

Easy to install
10 minute install if you have to unload the door before removal. Otherwise 5 minutes. I used this to repair my door due to a broken lower hinge. When the lower hinge brakes the door hits the floor and the contents go all over the floor. This should have been a recall. There was an obvious problem with these doors otherwise this kit would not be available. Had the kit been install prior to breakage, The hinge would not have broken and the kit would have fit better.
