Why has Norcold not made this a recall? They should be sending these out for free. I spent 2 wasted hours talking to them about the design flaws with the door that caused mine to break, they didn't care. They couldn't even sell it to me, not that I'd buy it. I'd rather give my money to a company like this that stresses customer service. I bought a thermistor from them this past summer and my whole experience was fantastic. Am happy that I tried them again. I will continue to do so in the future. The guy that I spoke with was not only knowledgable but was so understanding and easy going about the whole thing. I have recommended this company to many RVers and will continue to do so. If you ever need help with your Norcold don't waste your time calling them. Save your breathe and give Norcold Guy a call or use their chat window. You'll be happy you did!

Lousy Instructions but the part worked GREAT!

Product arrived quickly and was as advertised. After installation it seems to work as designed. Loss of one star because while the written instructions seemed clear, the very poor reproduction of the pictures made figuring out how to install the bracket a 30 minute puzzle. Instruction sheet appeared to have been copied many many times to the point where picture #2 was impossible to determine what was being shown. As a result I spent 29 minutes trying to figure out how to attach the bracket to the existing hinge, and 1 minute attaching in to the DOOR.

This part worked. However, since Norcold has a defective design, they should replace the parts for free. Or at very least, allow you to buy the right or left hand part for half of the outrageous price of $40.00 + 5 to ship. Norcold seems like they are trying to make money off of a defective design.

And the part should have been part of the original product. To be fair, our lower hinge didn't break, and the refrigerator is nine years old. I installed the new hinge part to PREVENT a messy failure on the road.

Since it was known to be a faulty and the company preferring not to take a black eye because of it. It would of seamed that you would of sent the parts at no charge to keep customers returning to your brand of RV refrigerator. At the least why weren't screws included with the "kit"? Reply: Cindy, we are NOT Norcold and do NOT want to be. We simply sell the brand and support it's product line. We agree with you, though! They should have taken the high road here and sent them out for free.

The part was easy to install and solved the broken lower hinge problem. However, the design could definitely be improved. The hole in the replacement bracket is larger than the lower hinge pin on the refrigerator. This requires you to either buy a new door or glue the broken plastic hinge piece back on the door. It would be a much better fix if the replacement part had a smaller hole that fit over the lower hinge pin without excess play. You could then attach the part to the door with two small screws. It seems like they want you to buy a new door. I'm not an engineer, but I think I could improve the design. I am going to try to fabricate my own modified version when I get home.

New door hinge was easy to install and works perfectly

I ordered the reinforced (metal) hinge after the flimsy plastic hinge that is part of the tefrigerator door broke off. I super glued the broken hinge back on the door and attached the reinforced hinge to support the repaired hinge to the door per onstructipns. It all came together very well. According to Google, the Plastic Norcold hinge is vulnerable to breaking and has been a problem since the early 2000's. Seems like they should have included the reinforced hinge as a normal part of the door when assemblying the refrigerator.

10 minute install if you have to unload the door before removal. Otherwise 5 minutes. I used this to repair my door due to a broken lower hinge. When the lower hinge brakes the door hits the floor and the contents go all over the floor. This should have been a recall. There was an obvious problem with these doors otherwise this kit would not be available. Had the kit been install prior to breakage, The hinge would not have broken and the kit would have fit better.
