Portable & Folding Solar Panels

Portable & Folding Solar Panels

Portable solar panels give you solar power without drilling a single hole in your roof. Unfold them in the sun while your RV stays parked in the shade, angle them toward the sun for maximum output, then pack them away when you leave camp. Shop folding panels, solar blankets and suitcase panels from Battle Born and Renogy, from 200 W to 400 W.

Why go portable?

  • Park in the shade, charge in the sun. Roof panels only work when the whole rig sits in full sun.
  • Aim for more power: kickstands and hanging loops let you tilt panels toward the sun, often harvesting much more energy per watt than a flat roof panel.
  • No installation: perfect for renters, leased RVs, or anyone who doesn't want roof penetrations.
  • Versatile: charge your RV battery bank, a portable power station or a tow vehicle's auxiliary battery.

Folding panel vs. solar blanket vs. suitcase

  • Folding panels (Battle Born 200 W): rigid sections with a carry handle and case. Durable and quick to deploy.
  • Solar blankets (Renogy 400 W): very light multi-fold fabric panels that pack small. Lay them on the hood or ground, or hang them.
  • Suitcase panels (Renogy 400 W Compact Suitcase): fiberglass panels with built-in aluminum kickstands for fast, stable setup.

Connecting a portable panel

Most portable panels use MC4 connectors. Run them to your RV's solar port, or to a charge controller and then the battery. Some setups have the controller built into the RV and some don't, so check before you buy. Shop solar charge controllers or Lithium MPPT Charge Controllers. Prefer a permanent install?
