Are Your Norcold AC Heaters Hooked Up Properly?

Posted on

Make Sure Your AC Heaters/ Heating Elements Are Connected Correctly!

AC Heaters/ Heating Elements are commonly connected improperly when service centers or customers remove them (for whatever reason). We get so many calls that lead to the heaters connection being the root of the issue that we thought it best to to explain this in detail.

Every Norcold AC Heater has two connections that are designed to connect on the power board to "AC HI" and "AC LO". With that in mind, most Norcold power boards have 4 AC terminals on the board (2 AC HI and 2 AC LO).

Connecting Your Heater/s:

You'll notice in the picture above that there are 4 AC terminals on the power board. Two of them are labeled "AC HI" while the other two are labeled "AC LO". Think of these terminals being numbered from 1-4 from left to right.

All models except the 1200, 1210, and 2117 have only one Norcold AC heater/ heating element. The heater should connect to connection 1 & 3 or 2 & 4. That would mean the first AC HI and the first AC LO or the second AC HI and the second AC LO.

If you do happen to have a Norcold 1200, 1210, or the 2117, then you have two Norcold AC heaters/ heating elements. For these models, each heater will have a black and a yellow lead. The same rule applies where the one heater should be connected to 1 and 3 and the other on 2 and 4. While looking at the board it should appear yellow, yellow, black, black OR black, black, yellow, yellow. Either will work just fine.
