Bad Norcold Cooling Unit (cooling unit replacement)

Well, there are a few tell tale signs that a Norcold cooling unit has leaked it's ammonia solution. There may be a faint smell of ammonia (or a strong one!) or there may be a yellow powder/ residue beneath the cooling unit. To check, simply remove the outside access panel on the side of your RV and inspect beneath the cooling unit. If your Norcold cooling unit has leaked out the coolant, there will be NO cooling whatsoever when you run the refrigerator.
It is also possible that your cooling unit has a small blockage. This can happen when sodium chromate builds up inside the cooling unit over time. When this happens, you may have some cooling when running the refrigerator. Obviously that depends on how large the blockage actually is.
