The cooling unit is the sealed absorption system (boiler, condenser, evaporator and absorber) that actually makes the cold in your Norcold N811, N821, N841. When it fails, the refrigerator won't cool on any power source, even though the heater or flame is working. Other common signs are an ammonia smell or yellow residue on the back of the refrigerator.
