Norcold Refrigerator Not Staying Lit on Gas Mode (propane/ LP) - all models!

Is your Norcold refrigerator not staying lit on propane (LP)?

Norcold Not Working on LP Propane

The most common cause of this is a dirty burner/ orifice. If you go to the back of the refrigerator and locate the burner at the bottom right hand side, you can sometimes physically diagnosis this. The burner sits within a burner box, which is just a small square, metal box that contain the burner. This box has a sliding door to allow you to see the flame when operating on LP. If there is any rust flakes or debris on the burner, it will often times ground itself out and not run on gas mode.

To clean the burner and orifice it is recommended that you use steel wool on the burner and air on the orifice. DO NOT poke anything into the orifice as this will increase the flame size and is a fire hazard. After cleaning, reinstall it to see this has solved your issue. If not, you may need to replace the burner/ orifice. Other possible parts to blame would be the power board, gas valve, spark sense electrode, gas pressure in the line, or possibly just the gap between the electrode and the burner. We here, at Seek Adventure LLC, recommend starting with the burner and orifice because it is not only a likely problem part but it is also one of the least expensive parts that could cause your refrigerator to stop running on LP. Another fairly common issue that comes up deals with the sparker continuing to click/ spark after the flame is lit and then once the sparking cycle ends, the flame goes out. This problem is the cause of either a spark sense electrode that isn't close enough to the flame or a bad power board. Have someone physically watch the burner during the ignition cycle to determine what is happening. If you're alone, turn the refrigerator to Auto mode while plugged into AC, go to the back of the refrigerator, and unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet while inspecting the burner through the small sliding access door.
