Dometic RV Refrigerator Cooling Unit 3313470.008
This is a genuine new Dometic replacement cooling unit, part number 3313470.008, for Dometic DM2852 and DM2862 refrigerators (RBX and LBX versions), the DM2872RBX, and the NDM1062. It's also listed for the RM4805 and the DMA4081, DMA4804 and DMA4807. It's the heart of an absorption refrigerator: the sealed system of boiler, condenser, evaporator and absorber that actually produces the cold.
Signs your cooling unit has failed
- The refrigerator won't cool on any power source (AC or LP), even though the heater or flame is working
- A strong ammonia smell, or yellow powder or residue on the back of the refrigerator (a refrigerant leak)
- The boiler area is hot but the freezer fins stay warm
Before replacing the cooling unit, rule out simpler causes: AC heating element, LP flame and burner, thermistor, ventilation and leveling.

Installation overview
Plan on 3–5 hours. Tools: screwdriver, putty knife, thermal mastic (included), and ammonia or mineral spirits for cleanup.
- Shut off and disconnect the propane. Disconnect the refrigerator from AC and DC power.
- Unmount the refrigerator from the rear mounting plate and the front frame (if equipped) and slide it out of the cabinet.
- Inside the freezer, remove the evaporator screws from the back plate (usually 8).
- Lay the refrigerator face down on blankets and remove the remaining screws from the back of the cooling unit, then lift the cooling unit out.
- Scrape off the old thermal mastic with a putty knife and clean the surface with ammonia or mineral spirits.
- Bead on the new thermal mastic, using all the mastic in the tubes provided.
- Screw the new cooling unit into place and reverse the steps to reinstall the refrigerator.
