Description

Nordic Cooling Unit 6600 for Norcold 1200/ 1210 Models with a 90 Degree AC Heater (replaces 634747)

Construction: New build (Dutchaire). This is a brand-new cooling unit, not remanufactured. Warranty: 3 years on new units.

The Nordic 6600 is a new-build Dutchaire replacement cooling unit for Norcold 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 refrigerators that use the older style AC heating element with a 90 degree bend. It replaces Norcold cooling unit 634747.

Have the newer 45 degree AC heater? You need the Nordic 6610 (replaces 634746) instead.

Both units fit all 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 models. The only difference is the slot for the AC heating element. Check the bend on your AC heating element, or the Norcold part number on your old cooling unit, before you order.

New-Build Replacement Cooling Unit

NTP-STAG and Nordic list this Dutchaire unit as a new build, not a remanufactured core.

Signs of a Failed Cooling Unit

  • Refrigerator does not cool on propane or electric
  • Yellow residue or ammonia smell at the back of the refrigerator
  • Boiler area gets hot but the refrigerator does not get cold
  • Cooling slowly gets worse over time even after the heaters, burner, thermistor and control board check out

Rule out the heating elements, burner, thermistor, control board and ventilation before replacing a cooling unit. They can cause the same symptoms.

Installation

Time:

  • 3-5 hours

Tools Needed:

  • Screwdriver
  • Putty Knife
  • Thermal mastic (included with cooling unit)
  • Ammonia or mineral spirits

Steps:

  • Unmount the refrigerator from back mounting plate and front frame (if one exists).
  • Shut off and disconnect propane.
  • Disconnect the power board from AC power and DC connections.
  • Rock the refrigerator into the coach.
  • Inside freezer compartment, you'll need to remove the evaporator screws from the back plate (usually 8 of them).
  • Lay refrigerator face down on the floor on blankets.
  • Remove remaining screws from the back side of the cooling unit and remove cooling unit from refrigerator box.
  • With a putty knife, scrape off old thermal mastic until you have a clean surface.
  • Clean that surface with ammonia or mineral spirits.
  • Bead on new thermal mastic, using all mastic in the tubes provided.
  • Screws the cooling unit into place.
  • Reverse previous steps and reinstall refrigerator.
