Norcold RV Refrigerator Vent Cutout Sizes (Side & Roof Vents)

Replacing a cracked or faded refrigerator vent? The fastest way to find the right one is to measure the hole in the side of your RV. This guide lists the cutout size for every Norcold outside vent we carry, plus what to do if your opening doesn’t match any of them.

Quick answer

The most common Norcold lower side vent, the 621156, fits a 13-3/4" × 21-1/2" opening. The smaller 620505 fits 6-3/16" × 17-3/16". Norcold roof vents fit an opening about 5-1/4" × 24". If your hole is a different size, the vent was most likely supplied by your RV manufacturer, not Norcold.

How to Measure Your Vent Opening

  1. Remove the old vent frame. Take out the perimeter screws and gently pry the frame off; it’s usually sealed with butyl tape.
  2. Measure the hole in the wall, not the old frame. The frame is always larger than the opening.
  3. Measure height and width at more than one spot, and round to the nearest 1/8".
  4. Note the corners. Rounded (radius) or square corners matter for some vents.
  5. Compare to the table below.

Norcold Outside Vent Cutout Sizes

Vent Where it goes Cutout (opening) Overall size Colors
Norcold 621156 Lower side (access door) 13-3/4" H × 21-1/2" W Frame 16-1/2" × 24-1/4"; door 15" × 22-5/8". Comes with black latches. Polar white, bright white, black
Norcold 620505 Side intake (smaller) 6-3/16" H × 17-3/16" W About 17-13/16" W, radius corners Polar white
Norcold 69110027 Side vent, N3141 / N4141 only 8-7/8" H × 15-11/16" W (225 × 398 mm) 10-1/8" × 17" (257 × 432 mm) Black
Norcold 616319BWH base Roof (exhaust) About 5-1/4" × 24" Takes the 622293CBW cap White
Norcold 622293CBW cap Roof (cap only) — About 33" × 10"; snaps onto 616319 base Polar white

Cutout sizes are from Norcold’s installation instructions where available. Some retailers list the roof opening as 5" × 24"; measure yours and choose the vent that covers it with the frame overlapping on all sides.

Older metal Norcold vents

Norcold’s older metal lower vent (616010) used a 13-5/8" × 21-5/8" opening, within 1/8" of the 621156. The 621156 is the usual replacement.

Vent Parts and Bug Screens

A worn latch can let the vent door blow open on the highway, and a bug screen keeps mud daubers out of the burner area. Replacing the whole door? New 621156 vent door assemblies come with the black latches already included, so you only need the 617772 latch if you’re keeping your existing door.

Your Hole Doesn’t Match? It’s Probably a Coach Manufacturer Vent

Many RV builders don’t use the refrigerator maker’s vent. They install their own vent door, sized and colored to match the coach, often from suppliers like Dometic or a private-label brand. Owners regularly find openings like 8-3/4" × 19-1/2" that don’t match any Norcold part. In that case:

  1. Call your RV manufacturer with the VIN or serial number. They can tell you the exact vent part number used on your coach (contacts below).
  2. Check the back of the old vent for a molded part number or brand name.
  3. Don’t make the opening smaller. Your refrigerator needs a certain amount of airflow to cool properly; a smaller vent can cause cooling problems.
  4. Enlarging is possible, but check first. Before cutting a bigger hole for a Norcold vent, make sure there are no wires, studs or plumbing in the way, and that the larger frame will clear trim and decals.

RV Manufacturer Customer Service Contacts

Have your VIN (or the last 6–8 digits) ready when you call. Many manufacturers sell parts only through dealers, but customer service can still give you the part number.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a Norcold refrigerator side vent?

The standard Norcold lower side vent, the 621156, fits a 13-3/4" × 21-1/2" opening. Its frame measures 16-1/2" × 24-1/4".

What size is the Norcold 620505 vent cutout?

Norcold’s installation instructions list a 6-3/16" × 17-3/16" opening. The vent itself is about 17-13/16" wide.

What size hole does a Norcold roof vent need?

About 5-1/4" × 24" for the 616319BWH base, which takes the 622293CBW cap.

Will a Norcold vent fit my Dometic refrigerator opening?

Only if the opening matches the Norcold cutout size. Measure the hole and compare it to the table; the brand of refrigerator matters less than the size of the opening.

Why doesn’t my vent opening match any Norcold size?

Your RV manufacturer probably installed its own vent. Call them with your VIN for the original part number.

Does the Norcold 621156 vent door come with latches?

Yes. New 621156 vent door assemblies include the black latches. If you’re only replacing a broken latch on your existing door, order the 617772 latch.

Can I paint an RV refrigerator vent?

It’s better to buy the right color. Painted plastic vents tend to peel and fade in the sun. The 621156 comes in polar white, bright white and black.
