Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 4 Flashes: Minimum Motor Speed Error

4 FLASHES

Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 4 Flashes: Minimum Motor Speed Error

The compressor can’t hold its minimum speed of 1,850 rpm because it’s working against too much load. Low voltage and a fan problem are the usual suspects.

Before you start

  • Good voltage is 12 to 15 volts DC at the fridge. It shuts itself off below 9.6 volts, and the battery should hold at least 10.5 volts under load.
  • Pull it out first. Most of these tests need the fridge slid out of its cabinet and the back cover off.

The Furrion Arctic 8 cu ft (FCR08DCGTA) and 10 cu ft (FCR10DCGTA) 12V compressor refrigerators, in every door finish and hinge side. The second number under each model is its Lippert part number.

How to read this code

4 flashes, then a pause. The Arctic has no display. This code comes from the inverter board on the compressor, and you read it with a small test LED.

  1. Disconnect power, slide the fridge out and take off the back cover. The inverter board is on the compressor; its terminals are labeled −, +, F+, F−, D, C, P, T.
  2. Connect the LED’s negative leg (cathode, the flat edge) to terminal D. Nothing else is plugged in there.
  3. Connect the positive leg (anode) to the + terminal without unplugging its wire: slide the rubber sleeve back and clip onto the metal connector.
  4. Reconnect power and wait at least 5 minutes. Count the flashes before each pause.

You need a 10 mA LED and alligator clips or a spade-terminal jumper. No flashes? Recheck the connections, then see the intermittent-operation flowchart.

STEP 1

Measure voltage at the board

Measure DC volts across the + and − terminals on the inverter board.

?

Is it 12 to 15 volts?

NO
▼

Fix the RV’s 12V supply

The problem is the RV’s 12V supply, not the fridge. Plug into shore power, check the converter, check wiring and switches, and charge the batteries.

STEP 2

Do a hard reset

Hard reset: disconnect every power source to the RV fridge circuit (converter, battery, solar), wait, then reconnect and let it sit 5 to 10 minutes before you turn it on.

?

Does the code come back?

NO

Fixed

Confirm the fridge cools.

STEP 3

Check the fan

Turn off all power. Make sure the fan under the compressor is plugged in, its wire isn’t pinched, and the blades spin freely.

▼
?

Was there a problem with the fan?

YES
▼

Fix it and reset

Repair the connection or free the fan, then cycle power. Furrion says to replace the unit if the code still won’t clear.

STEP 4

Check the power wiring

If you haven’t yet, do the continuity and reverse polarity checks in No Power (Steps 6 and 7).
