Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 Troubleshooting Guide: Flash Codes and Fixes
Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 Troubleshooting Guide: Flash Codes and Fixes
The Arctic has no display, so it gives you two clues: whether the interior light comes on, and a flash code you can read from the inverter board with a small test LED. Start with what the fridge is doing, or read the code, then follow the step-by-step flowchart.
Flash codes 1 to 6. A test LED on the inverter board blinks the code, pauses, then repeats. Shown here: 3 flashes, a compressor start fault.
The temperature dial. It’s the on/off switch too. For testing, set it to 4 or 5. The interior light should come on whenever the door opens.
Fits these models
The Furrion Arctic 8 cu ft (FCR08DCGTA) and 10 cu ft (FCR10DCGTA) 12V compressor refrigerators, in every door finish and hinge side. The second number under each model is its Lippert part number.
Jump to a problem
Check these first
- The dial isn’t on OFF.
- The battery holds at least 10.5 volts under load, and 12 to 15 volts reaches the fridge.
- The 15A blade fuse behind the front vent cover is good.
- Air can flow in the left side of the front vent and out the right side.
- The doors close and seal all the way around.
START WITH THE SYMPTOM
What is the fridge doing?
FLASH CODES
Read with a test LED on the inverter board
How to read the flash code
- Disconnect power, slide the fridge out and take off the back cover. The inverter board is on the compressor; its terminals are labeled −, +, F+, F−, D, C, P, T.
- Connect the LED’s negative leg (cathode, the flat edge) to terminal D. Nothing else is plugged in there.
- Connect the positive leg (anode) to the + terminal without unplugging its wire: slide the rubber sleeve back and clip onto the metal connector.
- Reconnect power and wait at least 5 minutes. Count the flashes before each pause.
You need a 10 mA LED and alligator clips or a spade-terminal jumper. No flashes? Recheck the connections, then see the intermittent-operation flowchart.
Key specs for testing
| Supply voltage | 12 to 15 V DC for testing (rated 9.6 to 17 V) |
| Low-voltage shutoff | Below 9.6 V at the fridge’s terminals |
| Current | Over 1 A when running; up to 11 A at start-up and max cooling |
| Fuse | 15A slow-blow ATC blade, behind the front vent cover |
| Target temperatures | Freezer about 0°F, fridge under 40°F |
| Normal range when tested | Freezer −10 to 10°F, fridge 30 to 50°F |
| Direct-connection test wire | 14 AWG up to 5 ft, 12 AWG up to 10 ft |
| Inverter board terminals | −, +, F+, F− (fan), D, C, P, T (thermostat on C and T) |
| Refrigerant | R600a (isobutane) |
Common questions
Does the Furrion Arctic have error codes?
Not on the front. It has no display. The inverter board on the compressor blinks a 1 to 6 flash code, and you read it by clipping a 10 mA LED between the board’s D and + terminals.
How do I reset a Furrion Arctic refrigerator?
Turn the dial to OFF for 5 minutes, then back on. If it’s still locked out, do a hard reset: disconnect every power source to the fridge circuit (converter, battery, solar), reconnect, and wait 5 to 10 minutes before turning it on.
Why does my Arctic shut off when the battery looks fine?
The voltage can look good at rest and sag when the compressor starts. If it drops below about 11 volts at start-up, the fridge shuts down. Long or undersized RV wiring is the usual cause; the dropout test in Runs Intermittently finds it.
Is the Arctic frost-free?
No. Some even frost is normal and needs a manual defrost once it’s more than 1/2 inch thick. Uneven ice usually means a door seal problem.
Still stuck? ask a tech with your model, serial number and the readings you got. We’ll confirm the part before you order.
