Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 Not Cooling or Not Cold Enough
NOT COLD
Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 Not Cooling or Not Cold Enough
The fridge runs but one or both sections aren’t cold. First confirm the real temperatures, then check airflow, the compressor’s current draw and the thermostat.
Before you start
- You’ll need a thermometer and a DC clamp meter.
- Target temps: freezer around 0°F, fridge under 40°F.
Fits these models
The Furrion Arctic 8 cu ft (FCR08DCGTA) and 10 cu ft (FCR10DCGTA) 12V compressor refrigerators, in every door finish and hinge side. The second number under each model is its Lippert part number.
STEP 1
Set it and wait
Set the dial to 4 or 5, wipe the inside dry, and leave it running for at least 4 hours.
STEP 2
Measure the temperatures
Over the next hour, measure each section 3 times and average them.
Is the freezer −10 to 10°F and the fridge 30 to 50°F?
It’s working
Those are normal readings. Adjust the dial to fine-tune.
STEP 3
Do a paper test for airflow
Open the door and drape a sheet of paper over the front vent. On the left side it should be sucked in; on the right side it should be blown out.
Is the air moving both ways?
Fix the airflow
Something is blocking the air path, or the cooling fan has failed. Clear the vent and coils, or replace the cooling fan. Cooling fan: Lippert part 2021124043 (also supplied as 2023004446 or 2023004447). Ask a tech and we’ll track one down.
STEP 4
Measure the current
Pull the fridge out and let it run at least 1 hour. Clamp a DC meter around the + or − supply wire.
Is it drawing less than 3 amps?
STEP 5
Look for an oil leak
Turn it off for an hour, remove the back cover and feel the compressor’s inlet and outlet tubes for an oily film.
Is there oil?
The refrigerator needs replacing
Oil means refrigerant has leaked out. The sealed cooling system or compressor has failed, and it can’t be serviced in the field. Contact Furrion (Lippert) about warranty, or ask a tech about replacement options.
The refrigerator needs replacing
Low current with no visible leak still points to the sealed system. The sealed cooling system or compressor has failed, and it can’t be serviced in the field. Contact Furrion (Lippert) about warranty, or ask a tech about replacement options.
STEP 6
Run it on max
Turn the dial to the highest setting and run it for 1 hour.
Is it cooling correctly now?
Replace the thermostat
Replacing it recalibrates the temperature control. If it still doesn’t hold temperature after that, the unit needs replacing. It’s the spark-free thermostat behind the temperature dial.

Is the compressor running nonstop?
Listen for the compressor and fan, or watch the clamp meter.
Is it running constantly without getting cold?
The refrigerator needs replacing
That’s likely a refrigerant leak. The sealed cooling system or compressor has failed, and it can’t be serviced in the field. Contact Furrion (Lippert) about warranty, or ask a tech about replacement options.
Replace the thermostat
It isn’t calling for cooling when it should. It’s the spark-free thermostat behind the temperature dial.
