Furrion Arctic 8 and 10 Ice or Moisture Inside the Fridge or Freezer
The Arctic isn’t frost-free, so some ice is normal. Uneven ice, ice beyond the back wall of the fridge, or puddles usually mean a door seal problem or a dial set too cold.
Before you start
- Defrost when the ice is more than 1/2 inch thick. Never chip it off with a sharp tool.
- Humidity matters. Damp air and frequent door opening build ice faster; air conditioning slows it down.
Fits these models
The Furrion Arctic 8 cu ft (FCR08DCGTA) and 10 cu ft (FCR10DCGTA) 12V compressor refrigerators, in every door finish and hinge side. The second number under each model is its Lippert part number.
PART A · ICE IN THE FREEZER
Look at the pattern of the ice
STEP 1
Look at the ice pattern
Open the freezer and look at where the ice is.
Is the ice even on all surfaces?
Check the door gasket
Ice in some corners but not others means warm air is leaking in. Test the seal: close the door on a sheet of paper all the way around; it should pull out with some drag. Adjust or replace the gasket if it doesn’t.
That’s normal
Defrost it when it builds up. Dry out any moisture and leave the doors open during storage so mold doesn’t form.
PART B · ICE OR WATER IN THE FRIDGE
STEP 2
Where is it?
Look for ice or moisture in the fresh food section.
Is there a lot of ice or water on surfaces other than the back wall?
That’s normal
A thin sheet of frost or moisture on the back wall is normal. It freezes and melts as the fridge cycles.
STEP 3
Check the dial
Look at the temperature dial.
Is it on the highest setting?
Turn it down
Set it between 4 and 5 and wait overnight. Dry up melting water with a towel.
STEP 4
Check the door seal
Test the door gasket with the paper test all the way around.
Is there a seal problem?
Repair the door seal
Adjust the door or replace the gasket (see Furrion doors).
Check the cooling
Make sure it’s cooling properly with Not Cooling. Otherwise, door use and humidity are the cause: dry it out and give it a month. If it continues, Furrion says to replace the unit.
