no AC CODE

Norcold 1200 / 1210 no AC Code (AC Voltage Not Available)

The display alternates between no and AC and the alarm beeps. You picked AC (or AUTO), but the power board is getting less than 85 volts AC. Work from the outlet to the cord to the board’s F2 fuse.

Before you start

  • When it sets. In manual AC mode, about 25 seconds after the voltage drops below 85 volts while the fridge is calling for cooling. In AUTO, only after propane has also locked out, so check the propane side too.
  • Good voltage at the power board is 108 to 132 volts AC.
  • Stay safe. 120V can hurt you. Take readings carefully, and unplug the fridge before pulling fuses or touching wires. If you are not comfortable checking AC power, you should locate a local service center/ mobile tech to come run these tests for you.
  • You’ll need a multimeter set to AC volts and continuity.

STEP 1

Measure AC at the power board

Measure the AC voltage coming into the power board, behind the lower outside vent.

▼
?

Is it 108 to 132 volts AC?

NO
▼

Low or no voltage: check the cord

Go to the power cord check below.

YES
▼
Go to Step 2 ▼

IF STEP 1 WAS NO: POWER CORD CHECK

?

Does the fridge’s power cord have continuity?

NO
▼

Replace the power cord

Unplug the fridge and check each conductor of the cord end to end. A cord without continuity needs replacing. The cord part number depends on your model (ice maker models use a different cord), so ask a tech to get the right one.

YES
▼

Check the RV’s outlet

The cord is fine, so the problem is the RV outlet or what feeds it: shore power, the generator, a tripped breaker or GFCI, or the inverter. A surge protector with a display, like the EMS-PT30X, shows you low pedestal voltage before it causes trouble.

STEP 2

Check the F2 fuse

Unplug the fridge. Pull fuse F2 from the power board and check it for continuity. F2 is an 8-amp, 1/4″ x 1-1/4″, fast-acting AGC glass fuse.

▼
?

Is the fuse good?

NO
▼

Replace the fuse

Put in a new 8-amp AGC fuse of the same size. If it blows again right away, ask a tech.

YES
▼
Go to Step 3 ▼

STEP 3

Check the F2 fuse clips

Look at the clips that hold F2 on the power board.

▼
?

Are the clips loose or broken?

LOOSE
▼

Adjust the fuse clips

Gently squeeze the clips so they grip the fuse tightly, then put the fuse back and test on AC.
