Norcold 1200/ 1210 Error Codes: Quick Troubleshooting Guide

What is your Norcold 1200 or 1210 display telling you?

The Norcold 1200 and 1210 (including the 1200LR, 1201LR, 1200AC, 1210AC, 1211 and IM ice maker models) show trouble as a two-part code on the temperature display. Most codes alternate between two words, like no and FL, while the alarm beeps. Find yours below, then open its step-by-step flowchart for the fix and the exact part.

1. Find your code

Watch the display for a few seconds so you catch both halves of the code.

Blank display → Fridge won’t turn on. 12V, F1 fuse, board, harness or display. 1–9your setting blinks Flashing temp setting → Whatever temperature setting you have (1–9) blinks when you press SET TEMP. Thermistor open or shorted. AC.↔HE. AC HE → Both AC heaters open or not connected. AC.↔rE. AC rE → AC heater relay on the board stuck closed. no.↔AC. no AC → Under 85 volts AC at the board. Outlet, cord or F2 fuse. dc.↔LO. dc LO → 12V DC under 10.5 volts. dc.↔HI. dc HI → 12V DC over 15.4 volts. no.↔FL. no FL → Burner didn’t light in the 30-second try. FL.↔-- FL -- → Flame sensed with the gas off. Gas valve or board. Sr. Sr → Flame sensing circuit fault on the board. L1.↔oP. L1 oP → High temperature limit switch open. Boiler overheated. dr. dr → Fresh-food door sensed open over 2 minutes.

2. Quick reference: every 1200 / 1210 code

The likely part is where each flowchart usually ends up. Run the flowchart first, since a reset, a loose plug or low voltage can cause the same code.

3. Read the fault history

The 1200/1210 saves every fault, even after it clears from the display. That makes it easy to catch a problem that comes and goes.

  1. Enter diagnostics: hold MODE and SET TEMP together. Let go when 1 shows. 88 appears within two seconds.
  2. Step through screens: press MODE. The screen number shows on the left. Screen 3 shows fin temperature (00 means an open or shorted thermistor).
  3. Screens 4 and 5 are the fault history. Lit segments on the right digit are stored faults (see the tables).
  4. Clear on screen 6: it shows Er. Hold SET TEMP until CL appears, wait five seconds, then hold SET TEMP until Er shows again.
  5. Exit: hold MODE and SET TEMP together, or turn the fridge OFF and back ON.

4. No code, but something’s wrong?

Cools on LP but not on AC

Check for at least 108 volts AC at the outlet. If the display shows AC HE or no AC, follow that flowchart. One failed heater can also cause weak electric cooling without a code.

AC HE → · no AC →
AC Heaters 618872 / 630807

Cools on AC but not on LP

Usually a dirty burner or orifice, low gas pressure (needs 10.5–11.5″ w.c.), a clogged flue or a missing flue baffle.

no FL →
Spark Electrode 61692222

Poor cooling in every mode

Check the venting, both rear fans and the fan thermostat first. If those are fine and the fridge is level, the cooling unit may be failing.

Won’t turn on at all

No lights at all means the 12V supply, the F1 fuse, the power board or the display.

Which power board?

Every 1210, and 1200s with serial 8981139 and above, use the OEM 628661. Older 1200s (serial 8981138 and below) use the Dinosaur 6212XX.

Good numbers to know

12V DC: 10.5–15.4 V · 120V AC: 108–132 V · Each AC heater: 58–68 Ω · Thermistor in ice: 30–32 kΩ · Electrode gap: 1/8″–3/16″ · LP pressure: 10.5–11.5″ w.c. · F1: 5A · F2: 8A AGC
