Norcold 1200 / 1210 dr Code (Door Ajar Over 2 Minutes)
The display shows dr and the alarm beeps. One or both fresh-food doors have been sensed open for two minutes, so the controls turned the interior light off. If the doors are actually closed, the latch, the door alignment or a door switch is the problem.
Before you start
- When it sets. In any mode, when a fresh-food door has read open for two minutes. It shows about 25 seconds later and is saved in the fault history (screen 4, segment 2).
- Close the doors first. If a door really was left open, close it and the code should clear on its own.
- How the fridge knows. Each fresh-food door presses a switch that turns off the light. If the switch isn’t pressed, the controls think the door is open.
STEP 1
Check that the doors latch
Close each fresh-food door and make sure it latches.
Do the fresh-food doors latch when closed?
Adjust the strike plate
Loosen the strike plate, move it so the latch catches, and tighten it again. Then close the door and see if the code clears.
STEP 2
Check the handle latch
Work each door handle and watch the latch move in and out.
Are the latches working correctly?
Fix or replace the handle latch
Repair the handle latch mechanism, or replace the handle assembly. ask a tech with your model and serial number to get the right handle.
STEP 3
Check the door alignment
Look at both fresh-food doors from the front. The left door and the right door rail should be even with each other, and the door panel retainers evenly spaced from top to bottom.

Align the doors
Adjust the door hinges until the left door and right door rail are even and the panel retainers are evenly spaced.
STEP 4
Check the doors themselves
Look for a door that’s bent, twisted or warped so it can’t sit flat.
Is a door damaged or warped?
Replace the door
A warped door won’t press the switch. Replacement 1210 doors: 627941 upper left (panel type) and 634069 upper left (stainless). For other doors, ask a tech.
STEP 5
Test the door switches
With the door open, press each door light switch in by hand and hold it.
Does the light turn off when the switch is held closed?
Replace the switch
The switch isn’t telling the controls the door is closed. Replace the door light switch. ask a tech with your model and serial number. On the 1200 the switch changed at serial 1204743.
