Norcold N6XX / N8XX AC LO Code (AC Voltage Low)
AC LO
Norcold N6XX / N8XX AC LO Code (AC Voltage Low)
The fridge is getting less than 108 volts AC. Low voltage means less heat at the AC heater and weaker cooling. It’s usually the power source: a weak campground pedestal, generator, inverter or a long extension cord.
Before you start
- Where things are. The power board, fuses and burner are behind the lower outside vent, under a cover on the back of the fridge. The optical control (display) assembly is in the front box at the top.
- Note the power source. Check whether the code shows up only on one source: generator, shore power or inverter.
- No extension cords. Nothing else should be on the fridge’s AC circuit.
Fits these models
Includes 2-way and 3-way versions, plus the .3 and IM (ice maker) versions.
What you’ll see on your model
N61X / N81X (LED lights)
N62X / N82X (one-letter display)
N64X / N84X (two-part display)
STEP 1
Measure AC at the power board
Measure AC volts where the power cord connects to the power board, with the fridge running on AC.
Is it lower than 108 volts AC?
Fix the AC supply
The problem is in the RV’s AC power or wiring feeding the fridge. Try another power source and check the pedestal, cord and connections. A surge protector with voltage readout shows you what you’re plugged into.
Progressive Industries EMS-PT30X →30A portable EMS. Guards against voltage swings, surges and miswired pedestals.
Hughes Watchdog Gen II 30A →Bluetooth surge protector with on-screen error codes.Replace the power board
The voltage is fine, so the board is misreading it.
Norcold Power Board 628661 →Norcold OEM power board. Match the part number on your old board.
Norcold Upgraded Power Board (Dinosaur) 6212XX →Aftermarket upgrade board for N6XX and N8XX models.Still stuck? ask a tech with your model, serial number and the readings you got. We’ll confirm the part before you order.
