Norcold N6XX / N8XX dc LO Code (Low DC Voltage)
DC LO
Norcold N6XX / N8XX dc LO Code (Low DC Voltage)
The controls are seeing less than 10.5 volts DC. The fridge runs its electronics on 12 volts even when you’re on shore power or propane, so low DC stops it cold. It’s usually the RV’s 12V supply, but a converter wired to the wrong side can cause it too.
Before you start
- Where things are. The power board, fuses and burner are behind the lower outside vent, under a cover on the back of the fridge. The optical control (display) assembly is in the front box at the top.
- Good voltage is 10.5 to 15.4 volts DC.
- Note the power source. Check whether the code shows up only when the converter is supplying the DC power.
- Nothing else on the circuit. No other appliance or light should be connected to the fridge’s DC circuit.
Fits these models
Includes 2-way and 3-way versions, plus the .3 and IM (ice maker) versions.
What you’ll see on your model
N61X / N81X (LED lights)
N62X / N82X (one-letter display)
N64X / N84X (two-part display)
STEP 1
Measure the DC input
Measure DC volts across the power board’s 12VDC and GND1 terminals.
Is it lower than 10.5 volts?
Fix the RV’s 12V supply
The battery, converter, fuse or wiring isn’t delivering enough voltage. Charge or replace the battery, check the converter, and clean and tighten the connections.
Victron Lithium SuperPack 12.8V 100Ah →LiFePO4 holds near 13 volts through most of its charge. Built-in BMS.
Victron SmartShunt Battery Monitor →Shows battery voltage on your phone, so you spot overcharging early.STEP 2
Rule out converter ripple
The fridge must be wired to the converter’s filtered (appliance) output. On the unfiltered side, AC ripple can trigger dc LO. Connect a charged 12-volt automotive battery directly to the power board.
Does the dc LO code clear?
Fix the converter wiring
The fault came from unfiltered DC power. Move the fridge circuit to the converter’s filtered output, or replace a failing converter.
Progressive Dynamics PD9360V 60A →Converter/charger with lead-acid, AGM and lithium settings. Replaces the PD9160.Replace the power board
Clean battery power didn’t clear the code, so the board is misreading the voltage.
Norcold Power Board 628661 →Norcold OEM power board. Match the part number on your old board.
Norcold Upgraded Power Board (Dinosaur) 6212XX →Aftermarket upgrade board for N6XX and N8XX models.Still stuck? ask a tech with your model, serial number and the readings you got. We’ll confirm the part before you order.
Covers the Norcold N61X, N62X, N64X, N81X, N82X and N84X families. Based on the Norcold N6XX/N8XX service manual (publication 619394E), dc LO troubleshooting flowchart.
