no.↔co.

N / NO CO

Norcold N6XX / N8XX no co Code (No Cooling Detected)

The controls watched the cooling fins and didn’t see them get cold during a full cooling cycle. Sometimes it’s poor venting or the RV being off level. If it keeps coming back after a reset, the cooling unit is failing.

Before you start

  • Where things are. The power board, fuses and burner are behind the lower outside vent, under a cover on the back of the fridge. The optical control (display) assembly is in the front box at the top.
  • Common causes from Norcold: poor ventilation, off-level operation, a dirty burner, low AC voltage, a failed cooling fan, improper installation or the wrong orifice.
  • Off-level limits are 3 degrees side to side and 6 degrees front to back.
  • You’ll need a 6-inch insulated 22 AWG jumper wire with 1/2 inch stripped from each end, to reset the board.

?

Are the fins getting cold?

NO

Fix venting and leveling, then reset

Clear any blocked vents, level the RV, and check the burner and AC voltage. Then reset the power board (see below) and let the fridge run normally.

STEP 2

Reset and watch a full cycle

Reset the power board (see below), then let the fridge run through a complete cooling cycle.

▼
?

Does no co come back before the cycle finishes?

NO
▼

The cooling unit is good

Recheck for ventilation obstructions and off-level operation, since they can bring the code back.

YES

Replace the cooling unit

If no co shows before a full cooling cycle completes, the cooling unit has failed. Replace it, then reset the power board. See our Norcold cooling units or ask a tech.

Power board resetting procedure

  1. Turn OFF the refrigerator.
  2. Disconnect from the power board: the 12V positive and negative wires, the AC power cord, the gas valve wires and the spark/sense electrode wire.
  3. Remove the power board cover.
  4. Reconnect only the 12V positive and negative wires.
  5. Turn ON the refrigerator.
  6. Find Pin 15 on the 16-pin P1 connector. It’s the empty socket to the right of the white/violet wire on the top row.
  7. With the insulated jumper, short Pin 15 to the power board ground lug for 10 to 15 seconds. A click means the controls reset.
  8. Turn OFF, then ON. If the code still shows, repeat the jumper step.
  9. Turn OFF the refrigerator and disconnect the 12V wires.
  10. Reinstall the power board cover and reconnect the electrode wire, gas valve wires, AC cord and 12V wires, then put the fridge back in service.
