Norcold N7X/ N8X Flashing Two Times / Internal Control Fault (quick fix!)
FLASH PATTERN 2
Norcold N7X / N8X Internal Control Fault
The red light flashes twice, goes off for 5 seconds and repeats. The main control board (power board assembly) has detected an internal fault. This code can show up in any mode: AC, LP or Auto.
Before you start
- Note the code. Count the flashes twice to be sure it’s 2 and not 3 or 4. Those point to different faults.
- Stay safe. Turn the fridge OFF and unplug it from 120V before handling wires at the back of the fridge.
STEP 1
Check the gas valve wires
Open the lower outside vent. Find the wires that run from the gas valve to the power board and make sure they’re fully plugged in at both ends.
Are the gas valve wires plugged in?
Plug them back in
Push the connectors on firmly, then reset the fridge as in Step 2 and see if the code clears.
STEP 2
Reset the fault
Turn the fridge OFF, then back ON. This clears the code so you can see if it comes back.
Does the code come back?
Solved
The fault cleared. If the 2-flash code returns later, reset once more. A code that keeps coming back points to the power board.
Replace the power board
The board keeps finding an internal fault, so replace the main control board (power board assembly).
