Then another listing pops up for $29.99.

Same part number.

Same refrigerator models listed.

Looks almost identical in the photo.

So what gives?

In many cases, the answer is simple:

It is not a genuine Norcold circuit board.

Cheap imported replacement boards have flooded online marketplaces, especially Amazon and eBay. Some are clearly labeled aftermarket. Others use Norcold part numbers so prominently that it can be difficult for the average RV owner to tell whether the board was actually manufactured by Norcold.

And when you're standing next to an RV refrigerator that isn't working, a board that costs a fraction of the OEM price can be very tempting.

A genuine Norcold circuit board is an engineered electronic component manufactured for a specific refrigerator control system.

It isn't just a generic printed circuit board with the right plug locations.

That does not necessarily mean:

All under the same OEM part number.

For example, current eBay results for Norcold 628661 include inexpensive third-party boards, used genuine boards, and listings advertised as OEM, all appearing beside each other in the same search ecosystem.

That makes the manufacturer's identity more important than the title of the listing.

How to Tell If a Norcold Circuit Board Is Genuine

Before buying a replacement Norcold circuit board, check the listing carefully.

1. Check the Manufacturer

The listing should clearly identify the manufacturer as:

Norcold

Not simply:

Compatible with Norcold

or:

Replacement for Norcold

2. Look at the Product Photos

A genuine OEM board should match the expected Norcold design and labeling for that part number.

Be cautious when listings use:

• heavily edited images
• no photo of the actual board
• a different manufacturer's name on the circuit board

3. Look at the Price

Price alone does not prove a product is counterfeit or aftermarket.

The second description is telling you that the product is not necessarily manufactured by Norcold.

5. Verify the Part Number and Serial Number

Even genuine Norcold circuit boards are not universally interchangeable.

Many Norcold refrigerators have serial-number breaks where the correct control board changed during production.

Before ordering any board, confirm both:

Refrigerator model number

and

Refrigerator serial number

Buying a genuine board that does not fit your production range will not solve the problem either.
