Norcold N6XX / N8XX Sr Code (Flame Sense Circuit Failure)
The power board’s flame sensing circuit has failed. The board can no longer tell whether the burner is lit, so it won’t run on propane. There’s nothing to adjust or test: Norcold’s fix is a new power board.
Before you start
- Where things are. The power board, fuses and burner are behind the lower outside vent, under a cover on the back of the fridge. The optical control (display) assembly is in the front box at the top.
- What it means. On these models the Sr code points to the board itself, not the electrode or burner.
Fits these models
Includes 2-way and 3-way versions, plus the .3 and IM (ice maker) versions.
What you’ll see on your model
N61X / N81X (LED lights)
N62X / N82X (one-letter display)
N64X / N84X (two-part display)
STEP 1
Confirm the code
Turn the fridge off and back on, then run it on LP gas again.
Does the Sr code come back?
Keep an eye on it
If it doesn’t return, the fridge is running normally. If it comes back later, replace the power board.
