Norcold 2118 Lo dc Code (Low DC Voltage)
Lo dc
Norcold 2118 Lo dc Code (Low DC Voltage)
The 12V supply to the fridge is too low. The 2118 has three versions of this code, depending on how low it went.
Before you start
- Good voltage is 10.5 to 15.4 volts DC for the controls and 108 to 132 volts AC for the heaters.
- Diagnostic mode can confirm it: hold MODE and TEMP SET together until screen 1 appears, then press MODE to step through the screens.
Fits these models
The Norcold 2118 four-door, 2-way (120V AC and propane) refrigerator, including the IM (ice maker) and IMD (ice maker and dispenser) versions.
What you’ll see
Lo then dc. Whether the alarm beeps tells you which version it is (see below).
| Version | What happened | Clears when |
|---|---|---|
| No alarm | Under 10.5 V. The divider, perimeter and flapper heaters turn off. Any mode. | Voltage is back to 11.5 V or more |
| No alarm, in gas mode | It tried to light the burner below 10.0 V, so the gas valve and igniter are held off. | Voltage is over 10.5 V |
| With alarm | Under 8.5 V. Everything turns off. Any mode. | Voltage is back over 9.0 V |
STEP 1
Measure the DC voltage
Measure DC volts across the power board’s 12VDC and GND terminals. Diagnostic screen 9 also shows it: the middle segment means normal, the bottom segment means under 10.5 volts.
Is it 10.5 to 15.4 volts?
Fix the 12V supply
Check the battery, the charging system and the converter. Remember the code won’t clear until the voltage recovers (see the table).
Victron Lithium SuperPack 12.8V 100Ah →LiFePO4 holds near 13 volts through most of its charge. Built-in BMS.
Victron SmartShunt Battery Monitor →Shows battery voltage on your phone, so you spot overcharging early.
Progressive Dynamics PD9360V 60A →Converter/charger with lead-acid, AGM and lithium settings. Replaces the PD9160.STEP 2
Recheck after it clears
Let the voltage stay in range for a few minutes and watch the display.
Does Lo dc keep coming back with good voltage?
Replace the power board
The board is misreading a good supply. It’s behind the lower outside vent, under a cover on the back of the fridge. Ask a tech if you’re not sure it’s the board.
Norcold Power Board 637082 / 636852 →The 2118 power board. Fits all 2118 models.Fixed
It was a low battery or converter problem.
Still stuck? ask a tech with your model, serial number and the code you’re seeing. We’ll confirm the part before you order.
