Norcold 2118 Error Codes: Complete Troubleshooting Guide
Norcold 2118 Error Codes: Complete Troubleshooting Guide
The 2118 shows trouble as a two-part code on its LCD, alternating between the halves while an alarm beeps. One code, oP LI, also lights a red lamp on the Temperature Monitor Control behind the lower vent. Find your code below, see what it looks like, and open its step-by-step flowchart.
The display. Watch for a few seconds to catch both halves, like no then FL. The icons on the left show the mode: plug for AC, flame for propane, left pair for AUTO, right pair for MANUAL.
The TMC red light (with oP LI). Solid: the boiler overheated; check for a leak first. Fast flashing: the thermocouple circuit is open. Slow flashing: low voltage to the TMC.
Fits these models
The Norcold 2118 four-door, 2-way (120V AC and propane) refrigerator, including the IM (ice maker) and IMD (ice maker and dispenser) versions.

Check these first
- The doors close and seal, and the vents aren’t blocked.
- It’s under 110°F inside the RV, and the RV is level (3° side to side, 6° front to back).
- The outlet supplies 108 to 132 volts AC, with no extension cord.
- The battery or converter supplies 10.5 to 15.4 volts DC.
- Propane is on and regulated to 10.5 to 11.5 inches water column.

Using diagnostic mode
Hold MODE and TEMP SET together until screen 1 appears. Press and hold MODE to move to the next screen. Hold both buttons again, or turn the fridge off and on, to exit. The left digit shows the screen number; segments of the right digit show the information.
| Screen 1 and 2 | All icons on, then all off (checks the display) |
| Screen 3 | Fin temperature from the thermistor. 00 = open, 99 = shorted |
| Screen 4 | Stored faults: ignition, door ajar, DC low, DC high, AC selected but missing, AC relay stuck, AC heater open |
| Screen 5 | Stored faults: thermistor, flame with gas off, service required, AC voltage high |
| Screen 6 | Erase fault history: hold TEMP SET until CL, release, hold again until Er |
| Screen 7 | Live inputs: door closed, flame sensed, thermistor reading |
| Screen 8 | Live outputs: AC heater relay, divider heater, gas valve, light switch, igniter |
| Screen 9 | DC voltage: top segment over 15.4 V, middle normal, bottom under 10.5 V |
| Screen 0 | AC voltage: top segment over 132 V, middle normal, bottom under 85 V |

Common questions
How do I reset a Norcold 2118 error code?
Turn the fridge off and back on. That clears most codes, but they come back if the cause isn’t fixed. An oP LI with the TMC light on solid needs a magnet reset on the TMC, and only after checking the cooling unit for leaks.
Why does my 2118 say oP LI?
The Temperature Monitor Control saw the boiler overheat, or its circuit is open. Check the TMC’s red light: solid means overheating (check ventilation, level and for a cooling unit leak), fast flashing means the thermocouple is unplugged or bad, and slow flashing means low voltage.
Can the 2118 run on 12V only?
No. It cools on 120V AC or propane. 12V only runs the controls, fans and small heaters, which is why low battery voltage causes Lo dc codes even on shore power.
What does a flashing temperature number mean?
The fin thermistor can’t be read. The fridge keeps cooling on a backup timer until the thermistor is fixed.
Still stuck? ask a tech with your model, serial number and the code you’re seeing. We’ll confirm the part before you order.
