Norcold 2118 no FL Code (Burner Won’t Light)
The power board couldn’t detect a flame at the burner. On its own this shows in MANUAL GAS mode; in AUTO it can follow a no AC code.
Before you start
- Gas pressure should be 10.5 to 11.5 inches water column.
- Where things are. The power board, fuses, burner, gas valve and the Temperature Monitor Control (TMC) are behind the lower outside vent. The display and buttons are at the top front of the fridge.
- Safety first. Let the burner cool, and never use a flame to check for leaks.
Fits these models
The Norcold 2118 four-door, 2-way (120V AC and propane) refrigerator, including the IM (ice maker) and IMD (ice maker and dispenser) versions.
What you’ll see
no then FL, with the manual gas (flame) icon lit. The code alternates between its two halves while the alarm beeps.
STEP 1
Check the gas supply
Make sure the tank has propane and every shutoff valve is open, including the manual shutoff on the gas valve.
Is gas reaching the fridge?
Open the gas
Fill the tank or open the valves, then turn the fridge off and on.
STEP 2
Purge air from the line
After a tank change or new install, the line can be full of air. Light a stove burner until it burns steadily, then try the fridge again.
Does it light now?
Fixed
It was air in the line.
STEP 3
Check the burner and electrode
Look at the burner and its LP22 orifice, and the spark electrode. The gap from electrode tip to burner should be 1/8 to 3/16 inch, and the electrode wire should be in good shape.
Is the burner clean and the electrode right?
Clean and adjust
Clean the orifice with alcohol only (never a pin). Set the electrode gap. Replace a damaged electrode or wire.
STEP 4
Check the gas pressure
Measure gas pressure at the fridge.
Is it 10.5 to 11.5 inches water column?
Fix the gas pressure
The RV’s regulator or gas line is the problem.
STEP 5
Test the gas valve
Unplug the two white wires from the gas valve solenoid and measure the coil: it should be about 74 to 92 ohms. Then put your meter on the white wires, select MANUAL GAS, and watch: you should see about 12 volts DC and sparking for about 30 seconds.
Is the coil in range, with 12 volts at the wires?
Replace what failed
Coil out of range: replace the gas valve. No 12 volts at the wires: check the wiring, then replace the power board. The 2118 gas valve is discontinued, so ask a tech for the current replacement.

Everything checks good, so the power board isn’t sensing the flame. It’s behind the lower outside vent, under a cover on the back of the fridge. Ask a tech if you’re not sure it’s the board.
