Is Your Norcold A Right or Left Hand Door Swing!?

Posted on

The Norcold Guy is about to explain an age old question...

How do I determine whether my door is a right or left hand door swing? Is it determined by which side of the refrigerator the door handle is? Or maybe it's the hinge? Is it based on me facing the refrigerator head on or is it from the refrigerator's perspective? I open my right hand hinged door with my right hand, help!?

All valid questions, campers. We've had some very creative questions regarding this, some have truly impressed us over here! The questions have made it very clear that you're all thinking far, farrrrrr too hard. So have a seat, grab yourself a cold beverage from that Norcold nearby, and give this a quick read.

A RIGHT HAND door swing has the door hinges on the right hand side as you are facing the refrigerator and vice versa. When you open the door it will swing to your right hand side if the hinges are on the right regardless of which hand you grab the handle with.

The picture below shows a left hand door swing.

Now here's the kicker. For most models, you only need to worry about this when purchasing a door handle. Doors for the N611, N610, N621, N641, N810, N811, N821, N841, N1095, DE0061, etc., are reversible. You have the option of putting the hinges and the door handle on either side of the door. This way you can make the door swing as convenient as possible for your coach layout. The last thing you want is a door swinging open into someone preparing dinner on the stove.

We hope this has been a lightbulb moment for some of you and has shed some light on something that really isn't described well!
