Norcold N8DC and N10DC Error Code E4: Door Left Open
The fresh food door has been open for more than 2 minutes, or the board thinks it has. If the door is shut, look at the door switch wiring and the board.
Before you start
Fits these models
Norcold’s 12V DC compressor refrigerators (8.2 and 9.7 cu ft). These run on 12 volts only: no propane, no 120V heater.
What you’ll see
E4 in the MODE window on the front touch panel. The board thinks the fresh food door has been open more than 2 minutes.
STEP 1
Close the door
Make sure the fresh food door is fully closed and latched.
Is E4 gone?
You’re done
The door just wasn’t fully shut.
STEP 2
Check the board connections
Check every plug on the user interface control board against the wiring diagram, including the interior light switch.
Is everything connected correctly?
Reconnect the plugs
Push each harness into its matching header. If E4 is still there, replace the board.
Replace the user interface control board
It’s the control board behind the touch panel at the top of the fridge. See the N8DC or N10DC parts or ask a tech.
